BRIDGET TOTZKE Photo

Hello All!

My name is Bridget Totzke, and I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to serve as the 2024 Juneau County Fairest of the Fair! I live in Mauston with my family and am currently attending UW-Stout in Menomonie WI, where I am majoring in Art Education with a minor in Psychology. Once I finish college I hope to become an Art teacher.

I have been showing at the Juneau County Fair for 11 years now. Throughout my years of showing, I have shown rabbits, dogs, beef cattle, and several of my art projects. I wasn’t always in 4-H and only started when I moved to Mauston from Oxford, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I would like to thank everyone in the 4-H community along with my family and friends for all the support they have given me through my years of 4-H.

As the 2024 Juneau County Fairest I had many duties, including attending parades, making radio ads, promoting the Juneau County Fair, and welcoming visitors to the fair. Although I had many duties as fairest, I had plenty of fun too! At the beginning of August, I attended the Wisconsin State Fair for the Fairest of the Fairs Reunion Day. I met so many fellow Fairest from all over the state. We had loads of fun exploring the fairgrounds, eating some delicious food, and talking to the Wisconsin State Fair goers about the Fairest of the Fairs and what we do. We also met the Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs, Kelsey, and were able to see what a little of her life was like as the Wisconsin State Fair Fairest of the Fairs.

In the blink of an eye, it was fair week. During the fair week I performed several duties as fairest. I announced the Grandstand events, welcomed people to the fair, talked with the youth about the fair and what it’s all about, welcomed everyone to the livestock shows and helped hand out awards at the shows. My favorite part of the fair week was the dairy breakfast where I welcomed everyone and introduced myself. I also had a station set up for the youth where they could color goody bags and fill them with trinkets to take home after their breakfast. I loved getting to talk with everyone and being able to spend time with the youth and listen to their favorite things about the fair. At the Dairy Breakfast I also got the opportunity to meet with our State Fairest, Kelsey, again, and I also was able to meet Alice in Dairyland. After all three of us had a little time to eat and chat, we gathered up some exhibitors and their animals to head over to the nursing home and visit the residents. I always love taking one of my animals over to the nursing home and seeing the smiles on all the residents’ faces. It makes my heart full to know that even though they may not be able to make it to the fair themselves, we are able to bring the fair to them.

Once the fair week had ended, I headed off to college to start my education for my future career. I was able to come home for the Wonewoc Christmas parade where I had the opportunity to ride in the bed of a truck with my fellow Junior Fairest Attendant, Lia. We threw candy to the children and waved to all the people that came to the Christmas parade. Even though it was a cold night, I was warmed by all the smiles in the town of Wonewoc and all the people that came up to say hi and ask about the Fairest program.

Don’t worry, my Fairest Reign doesn’t end there! I had the amazing opportunity to attend and participate in The Wisconsin Association Fairest of the Fair Convention. I learned several life skills and met some lifelong friends. I had the opportunity to work on my public speaking since I had to speak in front of a large group of people several times throughout the 4 days that I was at the convention. It was truly an amazing opportunity and experience to meet my fellow Fairests again and be able to see the next Wisconsin State fairest of the Fairs be crowned.

The opportunity to serve as the 2024 Juneau County Fairest of the Fair has truly been a wonderful experience. I would like to thank the judges for selecting me to represent the Juneau County Fair and all the responsibilities that come with it. I would also like to thank Heidi Finucan for all her support and coaching throughout my reign as fairest. Thank you to my Junior Fairest, Alaina Henry and Junior Attendant, Lia Brunken, for always being there when I needed them. They were such a help when it came to introducing events and being in several places at once. It is impossible for me to be in two places at once, but my Junior Fairest and Fairest Attendant made it possible by stepping up and introducing the events that I was unable to be at. I loved getting to watch them grow from shy girls to powerful, confident, and strong women. I wish them the best and hope to see them as the Juneau County Fairest of the Fair in the future. Lastly, I would like to thank my family and friends for their support and care throughout my reign. I will admit it was not always easy juggling fair life and fairest duties all at once, but my supporters made it possible. As my Juneau County Fairest of the Fair reign comes to an end, I would like to thank everyone that I have met along the way and everyone that made this opportunity possible. I can’t wait to see what life has in store for me. I also look forward to seeing the next Fairest of the Fair grow and gain confidence throughout their reign just like I did. I hope to see you all at the 2025 Juneau County Fair!

Sincerely,
Bridget Totzke

2025 Fairest Team

 Hello Everyone!
My name is Annah Lund and it has been my pleasure to serve as the 2023 Juneau County Fairest of the Fair! I reside in Mauston with my family and I am currently attending Viterbo University in La Crosse Wisconsin, to major in Nursing. In the future I wish to become a Pediatric Nurse and work in the NICU.
I have been attending the Juneau County Fair since I was young with my family and started showing as a Cloverbud. I have shown in the Rabbit project for 6 years as well as exhibiting photography, foods and nutrition, and art projects. The fair and 4-H have been a part of my life for over 10 years and I would like to thank everyone for always supporting me in my many projects.
After being crowned the 2023 Juneau County Fairest, I have participated in many community events such as the Parkfest Parade in Lyndon Station WI, and most importantly the week of the Fair. At the beginning of August, I attended the Wisconsin State Fair for the Fairest of the Fairs Reunion Day and met some amazing girls there! I had a wonderful time at the State Fair as I met people from all over Wisconsin and of course Sharlene, the 2023 Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs.
At the Juneau County Fair, I performed my duties as the Fairest of the Fair as well as showing some of my projects. My many Fairest duties include: attending the dog show on Sunday, Face to Face judging on Monday, attending the rabbit show on Tuesday, introducing myself at the rodeo on Wednesday and Thursday, attending the Dairy, Beef, Swine and Sheep shows throughout the week and many other various appearances during the week. On Saturday, Alice in Dairyland (Ashley) and The Wisconsin State Fairest of the Fairs (Sharlene) attended the Juneau County Fair Dairy Breakfast and walked with exhibitors and I up to the Fairview Nursing home to visit with the residents and to see some of the animals our exhibitors were showing. This was one of my favorite parts of Fair week as the residents were so happy to see us and all the animals that the exhibitors brought with them. On Sunday, the 2023 Fairest team participated in the Fair Parade and we all had a blast seeing everyone out in the community supporting the fair.
After a long fair week I headed off to college to start studying for my degree, but don’t worry I still came home for many events. One event that I had the privilege of attending was the Vernon County Fair where my college roommate is Fairest of the Fair as well! I also attended the Warrens Cranberry Festival and rode in the Parade. While at Cranfest we met Miss America (Grace) who is representing Wisconsin across the whole nation as well as many other royalties. In October we did Trunk or Treat for the Mauston and other surrounding communities and we counted every cow costume we saw. It was 5 in total! In December we participated in the Necedah Christmas Parade. These are just some of my favorite events we did to represent Juneau County!
The Wisconsin Association Fairest of the Fair Convention was one of the best experiences I have had while being Fairest. These busy four days were full of lessons on public speaking, etiquette training and meeting many new people. I learned so many life skills that I will carry on throughout my life such as interviewing skills for upcoming jobs and speaking confidently in front of people. I would like to thank Sharlene for being a great role model and teaching me to believe in myself during convention. It was truly a blast to represent Juneau County at the State Level!
This opportunity to serve as the 2023 Juneau County Fairest of the fair has been a wonderful experience and a boost in my self-confidence. I would like to thank the Judges for selecting me to represent Juneau County and all the tasks that come with it. I would also like to thank Heidi Finucan and Abbie Erickson for coaching me along the way through everything. Thank you to my Junior Fairest, Emmelyn Lisi and Junior Attendant, Bailey Madden, for always being there, making new memories and supporting the Fair and its community together. Lastly I would like to thank my family as they are my number one supporters in everything I do. Erin Lund and Amy Lisi keeping us in line and one time to events and ultimately making this experience one of a kind. Without any of these people, my reign as Fairest would’ve been much harder.    As my year as Juneau County Fairest of the Fair comes to an end I would like to thank everyone I have met along the way for supporting me and our fair. I can’t wait to see what the next chapter of my life looks like. I also look forward to seeing what the future has in store for the Juneau County Fair and the Fairest of the Fair. I hope to see you at the 158th Juneau County Fair!

Sincerely,

Annah Lund
