Hello! It’s me, Heather Hersil and I have been proud to be your 2025 Juneau County Fairest of the Fair. I live in Mauston with my family and currently work at Miller’s General Store and Culvers. I am in my final year pursuing a degree in Business Management at Western Technical College. After completing my studies, I plan to nurture my dream of starting my own business.
Throughout my reign as fairest I have actively participated in numerous community events including the Parkfest Parade in Lyndon Station, library events, farmer market, grand openings of local businesses, caroling at Christmas time, Riverside Park tree lighting and the Sharing Supper. One of my favorite things was attending 4-H and FFA events where I could engage with members who have mutual interest and are passionate about the fair. I also had the incredible opportunity to attend the Wisconsin State Fair for the Fairest of the Fairs Reunion Day, where I connected with remarkable individuals from across our state. Meeting Meagan, the Wisconsin State Fairest of the Fairs, was a highlight as she shared insights into her daily experiences while wearing the crown. The day was filled with exploration of the fairgrounds and indulging in delicious fair food, with the cream puff being an absolute standout!
During the Juneau County Fair, I embraced my role as the Fairest of the Fair, engaging in a variety of activities that showcased the spirit of the people. My responsibilities were diverse and included attending the dog show on Sunday, participating in Face to Face judging on Monday, and enjoying the rabbit show on Tuesday.
Midweek, we had the honor to have the Wisconsin State Fairest of the Fairs (Meagan) spend the day showing her our beautiful fairgrounds. I introduced myself at the rodeo on Wednesday and Thursday, while also attending the Dairy, Beef, Swine, Poultry, Horse, Goat and Sheep shows throughout the week. One of the highlights of my Fair week was on Saturday when I joined Alice in Dairyland (Sarah) for the Dairy Breakfast. Together, we walked with exhibitors to Fairview Nursing Home, where we had the pleasure of visiting with residents and showcasing some of the animals brought by the exhibitors. This visit was particularly heartwarming, as the residents expressed genuine joy with the animals and our presence, creating a memorable connection. The week reached its peak on Sunday as the 2025 Fairest team took part in the Fair Parade, an event that beautifully showcased the enthusiastic support of our community for the fair. It was a heartwarming reminder of the bonds we share and the collective spirit that makes our community so special, leaving us all with cherished memories that will last long after the festivities have ended. As the fair week came to a close, my responsibilities did not end; I found myself at the Warrens Cranberry Festival As I strolled through the festival grounds, I engaged in lively conversations with various vendors, each offering unique products and stories that added to the festive atmosphere making it a delightful experience.
The Wisconsin Association Fairest of the Fair Convention stands out as one of the most enriching experiences I have encountered during my tenure as Fairest. Over the course of four bustling days, I immersed myself in a variety of activities that included public speaking workshops, etiquette training, and the opportunity to connect with a diverse group of individuals. These experiences equipped me with valuable life skills, such as effective interviewing techniques for future job opportunities and the ability to speak with confidence in front of an audience. I am particularly grateful to Carol Wagenson, whose guidance and encouragement helped me cultivate self-belief prior to the convention. Thank you Jami Edwards for making me a beautiful cake and to Vicki McGowan who supported me at the convention. I would also like to thank all the businesses in Juneau County that supported me by donating auction items offering kind words and constant encouragement during my entire reign. Representing Juneau County at the state level was not only an honor but also an exhilarating adventure that I will cherish for years to come.
I am deeply grateful to my Junior Fairest, Cami Krus for her unwavering support. Cami admirably took on the responsibility of introducing events I couldn’t attend, showcasing her growth being a confident young lady. I wish her all the best in her future endeavors and look forward to her shining as hopefully a future Juneau County Fairest of the Fair. I want to take this time to encourage all those who are eligible to run for the fairest team to do so. It is an amazing experience. I also would like to thank Heidi Finucan and Abbie Erickson for running this beautiful program allowing talented contestants to show their ability to grow in the fair industry and supporting the community. A huge shout out to all of my amazing family, my parents for encouraging me to run for the Fairest of the Fair, my grandmother, my sister Hannah, Wyatt the love of my life, my friends and the fair community for supporting me. I am so grateful and thankful to have you in my life. See you all at the 2026 Juneau County Fair!
Sincerely,
Heather Hersil

Hello Everyone!
My name is Annah Lund and it has been my pleasure to serve as the 2023 Juneau County Fairest of the Fair! I reside in Mauston with my family and I am currently attending Viterbo University in La Crosse Wisconsin, to major in Nursing. In the future I wish to become a Pediatric Nurse and work in the NICU.
I have been attending the Juneau County Fair since I was young with my family and started showing as a Cloverbud. I have shown in the Rabbit project for 6 years as well as exhibiting photography, foods and nutrition, and art projects. The fair and 4-H have been a part of my life for over 10 years and I would like to thank everyone for always supporting me in my many projects.
After being crowned the 2023 Juneau County Fairest, I have participated in many community events such as the Parkfest Parade in Lyndon Station WI, and most importantly the week of the Fair. At the beginning of August, I attended the Wisconsin State Fair for the Fairest of the Fairs Reunion Day and met some amazing girls there! I had a wonderful time at the State Fair as I met people from all over Wisconsin and of course Sharlene, the 2023 Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs.
At the Juneau County Fair, I performed my duties as the Fairest of the Fair as well as showing some of my projects. My many Fairest duties include: attending the dog show on Sunday, Face to Face judging on Monday, attending the rabbit show on Tuesday, introducing myself at the rodeo on Wednesday and Thursday, attending the Dairy, Beef, Swine and Sheep shows throughout the week and many other various appearances during the week. On Saturday, Alice in Dairyland (Ashley) and The Wisconsin State Fairest of the Fairs (Sharlene) attended the Juneau County Fair Dairy Breakfast and walked with exhibitors and I up to the Fairview Nursing home to visit with the residents and to see some of the animals our exhibitors were showing. This was one of my favorite parts of Fair week as the residents were so happy to see us and all the animals that the exhibitors brought with them. On Sunday, the 2023 Fairest team participated in the Fair Parade and we all had a blast seeing everyone out in the community supporting the fair.
After a long fair week I headed off to college to start studying for my degree, but don’t worry I still came home for many events. One event that I had the privilege of attending was the Vernon County Fair where my college roommate is Fairest of the Fair as well! I also attended the Warrens Cranberry Festival and rode in the Parade. While at Cranfest we met Miss America (Grace) who is representing Wisconsin across the whole nation as well as many other royalties. In October we did Trunk or Treat for the Mauston and other surrounding communities and we counted every cow costume we saw. It was 5 in total! In December we participated in the Necedah Christmas Parade. These are just some of my favorite events we did to represent Juneau County!
The Wisconsin Association Fairest of the Fair Convention was one of the best experiences I have had while being Fairest. These busy four days were full of lessons on public speaking, etiquette training and meeting many new people. I learned so many life skills that I will carry on throughout my life such as interviewing skills for upcoming jobs and speaking confidently in front of people. I would like to thank Sharlene for being a great role model and teaching me to believe in myself during convention. It was truly a blast to represent Juneau County at the State Level!
This opportunity to serve as the 2023 Juneau County Fairest of the fair has been a wonderful experience and a boost in my self-confidence. I would like to thank the Judges for selecting me to represent Juneau County and all the tasks that come with it. I would also like to thank Heidi Finucan and Abbie Erickson for coaching me along the way through everything. Thank you to my Junior Fairest, Emmelyn Lisi and Junior Attendant, Bailey Madden, for always being there, making new memories and supporting the Fair and its community together. Lastly I would like to thank my family as they are my number one supporters in everything I do. Erin Lund and Amy Lisi keeping us in line and one time to events and ultimately making this experience one of a kind. Without any of these people, my reign as Fairest would’ve been much harder. As my year as Juneau County Fairest of the Fair comes to an end I would like to thank everyone I have met along the way for supporting me and our fair. I can’t wait to see what the next chapter of my life looks like. I also look forward to seeing what the future has in store for the Juneau County Fair and the Fairest of the Fair. I hope to see you at the 158th Juneau County Fair!
Sincerely,
Annah Lund
